The Council of the European Union officially welcomed Hungary's presidency for the upcoming six months on Monday, with Budapest taking the baton after Brussels's leadership over the past half a year.
"We will be honest brokers, working loyally with all member states and institutions," Hungarian European Union Affairs Minister Janos Boka said last month. "Make Europe Great Again," the minister wrote on X, echoing the slogan by former United States President Donald Trump, according to Ednews.
Budapest's presidency is set to prioritize issues of illegal migration, as previously disclosed by Hungarian Chief Security Advisor Gyorgy Bakondi. Defense Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky emphasized that peace in Europe necessitates "strength" and "defense" readiness, advocating for robust national armed forces and a strong European defense industry.
