Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in his speech yesterday, accused the European Union (EU) of planning to overthrow his government and establish a puppet regime in its place. This indicates a further escalation in the tensions between the member state, considered Russia's closest ally within the EU, and the union itself.
It is worth noting that this controversial statement was made during an event commemorating the anniversary of the armed uprising that began in 1956 and was suppressed by the Red Army.
After observing a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the uprising, the Prime Minister addressed the EU and the war in Ukraine.
Highlighting the disagreements with EU leadership and several member states regarding military operations in Ukraine, Orbán stated that Brussels intends to overthrow Hungary's national government in order to govern Hungary as it sees fit.
Orbán also disclosed that Official Brussels is drawing EU countries into a war with Russia without considering the consequences. He accused the EU leadership of irresponsibility, particularly in light of the migrant crisis.
So far, Official Brussels has not responded to these accusations.
