"The current cooperation on the issues of defense technology and the sales of air defense systems S-400 to India reminds us of the days of the Cold War, when there was close cooperation between the USSR and India under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, one of the chief architects of the partnership between Moscow and New Delhi."

According to him, the Indian air defense forces are in the process of modernization, which will certainly fortify cooperation with the Russian military industry.

“At the same time, a deal with this type of weapon will provoke Pakistan’s attempt to reach new weapon deals with China and other suppliers from the West. A close alliance between Russia and India will contribute to a broader dialogue between Pakistan and China, as well as an increase in the geostrategic leverage of Delhi in the region.

At the same time, the Treasury Department could exert a pressure on the Indian government to refrain from buying weapons from Moscow, taking into consideration the fact that Washington imposes economic sanctions on the Russian government.

Cooperation between India and Russia may have positive results within the framework of  BRICS cooperation, and new initiatives will be implemented in the near future with the intention of ensuring a wider presence of Russian goods,” Peter Tase noted.
