Washington Is Forming A New Alliance - OPINION

"A significant diplomatic event is set to unfold in Washington on April 11, as US President Joseph Biden has proposed a tripartite meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos. The agenda of this meeting will encompass discussions on bolstering trilateral economic cooperation, exploring new technologies, and addressing security issues, particularly in light of shared concerns regarding China's policies in the region."

Ednews informs that the head of "Atlas" Research Center, political scientist Elkhan Sahinoglu said this.

He noted that only Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will visit Washington in April.

According to E. Shahinoglu, later the White House wanted to see the President of the Philippines in Washington on the same day: "Tokyo did not object to this, on the contrary, it accepted that the tripartite discussion would benefit the common cause." It has not been officially announced that the tripartite alliance will be against China. However, Washington has formed various alliances around China in recent years, and political experts believe that the US-Japan-Philippines trio will be one of them. During his visit to the Philippines on March 19, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken conducted the main discussion around China's policy.

The political scientist said that the tension between the Philippines and China is related to the approach of warships in the seas: "The Philippine military called on China last year to stop "unsafe actions" in the South China Sea. The Chinese warship had forced the Philippine warship to change course. China wants to control the entire South China Sea. Because ships with a turnover of more than three trillion dollars annually carry cargo in this part of the sea. The Philippines does not accept China's claim to the entire sea."

E. Shahinoglu emphasized that the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos, made it possible for US military bases to be located in his country: "This strengthened the military alliance between the two countries. The United States increased its investments in the Philippines and supported the opening of technological industrial enterprises in this country. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos visited Washington last year. He should promote the development of military cooperation during the visit in April. Tokyo is also worried about the situation in the South China Sea. "The Prime Minister of Japan believes that what is happening in Ukraine today may happen in East Asia in the near future."
