Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, acting through Mossad chief David Barnea, ordered the recall of negotiators from Qatar due to a reported "deadlock" concerning the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
Netanyahu's office, citing Hamas's failure to fulfill its part of the agreement, specified that the accord included the release of all children and women outlined in the agreed-upon list. Despite the impasse, the Israeli government acknowledged that these efforts resulted in the release of 84 children and women from Gaza and 24 foreign nationals over seven days.
