Cooperation in the green industrial field between Azerbaijan and Arab states has improved even more in the recent years. In this area, work is being done in the direction of creating alternative energy sources, as well as the operation of heavy industry without damaging the environment.

What projects have Azerbaijan and the Arab states planned in the field of Green Energy?

Azerbaijan is a critical “key country” for the Arab world. Economic operations are being carried out in various fields among these countries.

Mahammad Ali Pasha, a Pakistani expert on Central Asia and the Middle East, has expressed these views during his statement to Ednews.

“Green Energy turning into one of the main sources of energy in the recent years, has led Arab states to invest in this field on a serious scale. The wide state-natural-geographical diversity in the territory of Azerbaijan has given many possible opportunities to the state.”

The United Arab Emirates has started to cooperate with Baku in order to install two large-scale solar panels until 2027. The Arab states are not the only main participants in the oil and gas industry. It is possible to utilize the water resources of Azerbaijan and as well as the abundant solar resources of the Middle East for sustainable and less damaging power systems.

There have been many oil industry collaborations between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan so far. Saudi Arabia, increasing its potential in the field of renewable energy, has reached an agreement on placing 500 megawatt solar panels in the territory of Azerbaijan.

1.5-gigawatt wind turbines will be installed in the Aran region. Saudi Arabia is particularly interested in minimizing carbon leakage in this area. Because this country has suffered from the spread of carbon emissions into the atmosphere for years.”

The expert also spoke about the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Arab states in the field of Green Energy. According to him, the Arab states have reduced the dependence of their economy on the oil and gas industry.

"These countries specializing in alternative energy will continue to pay special attention to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan can make use of this and reduce the dependence on oil and gas in the energy industry. Alternative energy products are expensive. Therefore, foreign investment should be valued highly.

If Azerbaijan can turn Green Energy into a sustainable field with the help of the investments received from Arab countries, the country will become a model country specializing in both traditional and alternative energy sectors.”
