The teaching of the Azerbaijani language continues in the new semester at the Department of Oriental Languages of the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University in Egypt.
According to EDnews, our native language has been taught at this higher education institution for the past 10 years. Azerbaijani is taught to students by Seymur Nasirov, a researcher and scholar, who is the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Egypt and Chairman of the Board of the Egypt-Azerbaijan Friendship Society.
Students are provided with comprehensive information about our country’s rich culture, the traditions and customs of our people, the development of bilateral relations between our countries in various fields, and the realities of Azerbaijan.
S. Nasirov stated that additional courses will soon be organized at the diaspora center in Cairo for young people who show great interest in learning the Azerbaijani language. He added that to date, more than 1,700 students have been taught Azerbaijani. Among them are those who have continued their studies at the master’s level in Azerbaijani language and literature.
It should be noted that students from various universities across Egypt attend Azerbaijani language classes at the diaspora center. Some of them have reached a level that enables them to translate articles from Azerbaijani into Arabic. At present, more than 650 students from 59 countries are receiving free education in various subjects, including the Azerbaijani language, at the diaspora center.
