Oil prices are rising amid further signs of escalating conflict in the Middle East, EDnews reports via Interfax.
The price of August Brent crude futures on London's ICE Futures Exchange was $94.01 per barrel as of 9:20 a.m. (GMT+4), up $0.91 (0.98%) from the previous close. On Wednesday, these contracts rose $1.65 (1.8%) to $93.10 per barrel.
WTI crude oil futures for July on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) electronic trading rose $1.08 (1.2%) to $91.11 per barrel by this time. Their price had increased $1.83 (2.07%) to $90.03 per barrel in the previous session.
The agency recalls that US military forces carried out strikes on Iranian territory on Thursday night. All targets were located in the south of the country. These included air defense systems, radars, and unmanned aerial vehicle command and control units.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) noted that strikes on Iranian targets had been completed at the direction of the Supreme Commander. US President Donald Trump threatened Tehran with even more powerful strikes if it did not reach a deal with Washington.
