The Armenian general prosecution has formally requested Russia to extradite Levon Sargsyan, the fugitive ex-lawmaker who was arrested in the Russian town of Zelenograd on an Armenian arrest warrant on November 21, Eurasia Diary reports citing Armenpress.
According to Gor Abrahamyan, an adviser to Armenian Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan, a Russian court has approved to remand Sargsyan into custody for 40 days to process the extradition request.
Sargsyan, 51, is wanted by Armenia for armed robbery since October 1, 2018.
He held a seat in parliament twice, from 1999 to 2003 and from 2003 to 2007.
