Azerbaijan and Georgia enjoy brotherhood that unites the two countries and provides support for each other in difficult times, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said during a visit to Baku, Ednews informs referring to Georgian media.
Papuashvili and the parliamentary delegation arrived in Azerbaijan on an official visit on December 10. As part of the visit, Papuashvili has already met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, with Chairperson of the Palriament Sahiba Gafarova and Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
“At all these meetings, of course, the desire that exists in relations between our two countries was emphasized. This is not only friendship, not only strategic partnership. It is the brotherhood that unites us, this is supporting each other in difficult times and sharing each other’s joy,” Papuashvili said.
He expressed confidence that the agreement on cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries will be implemented as soon as possible.
“We want to sign a memorandum of cooperation between parliaments in order to give more structural stress to our relations,” Papuashvili noted.
As part of the visit to Baku, the Georgian delegation also laid a wreath at the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
