SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the company plans to spend around $2 billion on its Starship rocket this year. SpaceX test-launched Starship last week, although the world's most powerful rocket exploded seconds into its flight, Ednews informs via Telegraph.
Ednews reports that Musk said he does not believe SpaceX will need to raise incremental funding in 2023. He put the probability of Starship reaching orbit this year at around 80% but added that there is a "100% chance of reaching orbit within 12 months." Commenting on the inaugural launch, he said it was "roughly in what I expected, and maybe slightly exceeding my expectations," adding that the goal of the launches is "just to learn as much as possible."
