Billionaire Elon Musk, alongside other executives of X Corp., formerly known as Twitter Inc., expressed certainty that the company's new products will be rivaling video-sharing platform YouTube and employment-focused social media platform LinkedIn, it was reported by a United States news outlet on Friday.
Musk and Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino made these remarks during an all-company meeting held on Thursday without sharing much detail on what the new products could look like and how they would challenge YouTube and LinkedIn, a person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The source further added that the two also want to launch a service called XWire, that would compete with Cision Ltd.'s PR Newswire.
Previously, Musk described LinkedIn as "cringe," adding that X will "make sure" to create a competitor that is "cool."
