Actress Regina King said in a brief interview on Saturday she would be “honored” to play Michelle Obama in a movie if given the opportunity.
The newly Golden Globe-nominated star said she would leap at the opportunity to portray the former first lady when asked by TMZ.
“It would be an honor to play Michelle Obama,” King answered. “Of course.”
But King joked it might be too “soon” for talks of a movie about Obama as the former first lady continues to promote her new memoir, “Becoming.”
Last month, Obama launched 10-city book tour in her hometown of Chicago.
The new book, which ended up selling more than 1.4 million copies in its first week, has since become one of the year’s biggest debuts, reportedly surpassing the pace of previous memoirs by penned by former first ladies.
