During the visit to Shusha, President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva also visited the Jidir Duzu (Horse Plain) of Shusha.
Jidir Duzu is a place where racing competitions have been held historically and the locals have been celebrating Novruz since the Karabakh khanate. Many national folk games were held in this area. The winner of these games was sometimes given gold coins, and sometimes grain, wheat, and household items. Wrestling, running, archery and other games were held on this plain. Later, the area was called the Jidir Duzu or Horse Plain because of horse races that used to be held on there.
According to the Eurasia Diary, President Ilham Aliyev said that the place he visited was the native horse plain for each of us.
The head of state stressed that it is impossible to imagine Shusha without a jidir Duzu, and Azerbaijan without a Shusha: “We have returned to Shusha, returned to the Jidir Duzu and will hear mugam, Azerbaijani songs at big events and weddings.
Bythe time of its liberation, the occupying forces made ugly actions insulting our dignity and people of Azerbaijan in this sacred place - the whole world is already aware of this - and even they just impudently did "Yalli" arms in arms. There is no trace of them here anymore, we have pushed them out. Now Jidir Duzu of Shusha is free. The owners of this land have returned, with weapons in their hands, flags in their hands, and patriotism in their hearts. Patriotism brought us to Victory. "Patriotism has become a key factor in our victory," the President said.
