Heidi Kuhn, Founder and CEOl of Roots of Peace, a humanitarian non-profit organization, paid an official visit to Azerbaijan on March 1-5 at the invitation of the International Eurasia Press Fund (IEPF) and with the support of ANAMA. The main purpose of Heidi Kuhn's visit was to get acquainted with the mine problem in the country, to bring this problem to the attention of the international community and to support the transformation of mined areas into arable land.
Heidi Kuhn met with IEPF President Umud Mirzayev, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency Samir Poladov and Aysaba Umutlu at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport on March 1.

On the first day of her visit, Heidi Kuhn visited the IEPF headquarters. The Roots of Peace organisation and the International Eurasia Press Fund have launched a joint effort to turn mines to vines for the health and safety of future generations.
On March 2, Heidi Kuhn visited Shamakhi region, one of the wine-growing cities of Azerbaijan with ancient wine traditions. Heidi Kuhn got acquainted with the viticulture and winemaking complex in Meysari village.
On March 3, Heidi Kuhn, the founder of "Roots of Peace" visited the war-torn regions of Tartar, Agdam and Fuzuli, organized by the Karabakh office, ANAMA and the International Eurasia Press Fund.
Heidi Kuhn got acquainted with demining operations and destroyed vineyards in Chayli village of Tartar region. ANAMA chairman Vugar Suleymanov and IEPF President Umud Mirzayev detonated eight mines togetjer with Heidi Kuhn in the area.
Heidi Kuhn visited the ancient Garaagaji cemetery in Agdam.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on March 4 at the IEPF headquarters with the blessing of Heidi Kuhn, founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, Umud Mirzayev, President of the International Eurasia Press Fund, and Samir Poladov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).
Heidi Kuhn, head of the Roots of Peace, Fariz Ismayilzadeh, Executive Vice-Rector of ADA University, met with representatives of international organizations and embassies and students.
