The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva appealed to the international community concerning the 30th anniversary of the Bashlibel massacre, Ednews reports.
“Today, 30 years have passed since the massacre committed in Bashlibel village of Kalbajar district in April 1993 as a continuation of the genocidal policy carried out by Armenia on the basis of strong hatred against Azerbaijan throughout history, says Ombudsman.
S. Aliyeva noted that as a result of this bloody massacre, committed against humanity, the population of the village, including children, women, disabled people, and elderly were mass-murdered by being subjected to various severe tortures, even some were burned alive: "At the same time, there were hostages among the villagers and there is no information about the fate of those people who are considered missing until today."
