Mark Libby has been appointed the new US ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Ednews reports citing the Press Gallery of the Senate that the Senate (the upper house of the Congress) has approved Libby's candidacy for the post of ambassador to Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the term of the US ambassador to Azerbaijan ended in July last year.
On May 25, 2022, US President Joseph Biden made a proposal to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Congress to appoint a diplomat as ambassador to Azerbaijan.
However, on January 3 of this year, the proposal regarding his candidacy was returned to the Biden administration. On the same day, the State Department again nominated Libby.
Mark Libby, Biden's candidate for ambassador to Azerbaijan, worked at the National War College in Washington.
Libby worked as a chargé d'affaires and deputy head of the US mission to the European Union in Brussels until June 2021.
He was also a political adviser in Warsaw, Nassau, Nicosia and Baghdad at various times.
