For more than two years, a father allegedly routinely sexually assaulted his young daughter in the bed he shared with his wife.
The alleged abuse started after the girl turned 11 years old, and only ended when she was 13 years old and decided to confide in her mother.
The 42-year-old man, who is on trial at the High Court, has denied 10 charges against him, including five for aggravated molest, four for sexual assault and one for committing an indecent act with a child.
At the opening of his trial on Tuesday (Nov 15), prosecutors said he frequently sexually abused the girl – his eldest child – from end-2011 to mid-April 2014.
Father and daughter cannot be named to protect the victim's identity. She is now 15 and will testify against her father in a closed-door hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputy public prosecutors April Phang and Amanda Chong are expected to lead evidence from 19 witnesses - including the victim and her mother - to prove their case.
They told the court the man first abused his daughter in 2011 in her younger brother's bedroom. The man asked his daughter to massage his legs before grabbing her hand and forcing her to touch his genitals.
He continued to assault her many times after this first abuse, usually in the master bedroom, where the victim used the computer for her homework. While she was in the room, the father would close and lock the bedroom door before sexually assaulting her, the prosecutors said.
The High Court heard the man sometimes used olive oil or the victim's brother's hair gel on her before the assaults. The victim finally confided in her mother on Apr 16, 2014, a day after a particularly bad instance of abuse, prosecutors said.
The victim's parents, who have two other children together, have since separated.
The trial continues.
