Brazilian superstar Neymar is seeking a return to former club Barcelona from Paris Saint Germain and reportedly several efforts have been already made by the forward's team to arrange his move back to Spain. Neymar joined PSG last year in a world record €220 million ($254 million) transfer deal, the most expensive transfer in the history of football. However, he seems to have grown frustrated with life in Paris and is desperate to return back to Barcelona.
According to AS report, Neymar's team has made 'several calls to Barcelona,' so far regarding his transfer but nothing concrete has come out yet. Neymar has had a fine stay in Paris so far and has found his feet in the Ligue 1 impressing heavily for PSG. He is currently the second highest goal scorer for PSG this season with eleven strikes to his name, only behind Kylian Mbappe who has scored one more than the Brazilian.
He played an instrumental role in PSG's emphatic title-winning campaign last season and has already won four titles with the Paris outfit including the Ligue 1 title and Coupe de France. However, he is still not satisfied with his switch to the French capital and is looking to reunite with former strike partners Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the Camp Nou.
"Their calls [from Neymar’s team] are constant," AS quoted a Barcelona source as saying. "When he comes to Barcelona, which is often, he always ends up visiting the dressing room (at the club’s training ground)," the source added.
But any move for Neymar would cost Barcelona a fortune given the staggering amount he is earning at PSG and the clauses in his contract with the Ligue 1 club. Nothing less than the fee which PSG had paid to secure his services would be able to lure the club in letting go their prized possession. With Mbappe rivalling him for stardom at the club, Neymar might soon want out as PSG is yet to enjoy significant success in the Champions League.
Another factor which can decide his move back to Barcelona is the nature of the way Neymar had left the Spanish club. The player and club officials were engaged in a war of words over the transfer with Neymar blaming the officials of not paying him his due amount post his transfer to PSG.
"It's a shame, because here he had everything, but ended up forcing his departure and we should see how the environment would react, which did not end [with everyone] satisfied with everything that happened," the source said about a potential move back to Barcelona for Neymar.
