4 new confirmed cases of coronavirus increase total to 218

Georgia has confirmed four new cases of coronavirus increasing the total number of cases to 218, EDNews reports citing Agenda.ge.

The medical director of Tbilisi Infectious Disease Hospital Marina Ezugbaia told journalists today that all of these new cases have been “imported”.

As of now, the number of recoveries from the coronavirus remains 50, three people have died, two foreigners have returned to their respective country, while the rest 163 infected individuals remain in hospitals.

A total of 4,722 people are under quarantine in Georgia, while 408 others remain under medical observation at hospitals, based on www.stopcov.ge - a website aimed to inform the population of the spread of the COVID-19 and its prevention.

Prime Minister Giorgi Gakhara has urged the citizens to call the Georgia’s Emergency and Operative Response Centre at 112 if they have any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever or shortness of breath. 

Those who test positive for the coronavirus will be transferred to the relevant hospital.

The Georgian government has brought back 4,500 Georgian citizens from different coronavirus-hit areas since the coronavirus outbreak.

The country has assisted over 2,000 of its citizens in more than 40 foreign countries with accommodation, food, transport, medicines and online medical consultations and emergency service since the outbreak.
