The meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State is starting on October 14 in Astana, Ednews reports.
The presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are taking part in it.
Ukraine and Moldova will not be represented at the summit. In recent years, Kyiv has suspended participation in CIS events, and the head of Moldova will not be able to attend the meeting due to a busy work schedule.
It is expected that at the summit the presidents will approve a draft action plan for holding in the CIS in 2023 the Year of Russian as the language of interethnic communication. It was also proposed to consider a draft plan of priority activities in the field of humanitarian cooperation for 2023-2024.
In addition, the first Russia-Central Asia summit will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan on the afternoon of October 14 in Astana, following which a joint statement will be adopted.
