"We will continue defending Meskhetian Turks," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu wrote on Twitter, Report informs.
According to him, the Meskhetians were exiled from their homeland 78 years ago because they were Turks: "We do not forget what happened during the exile, and commemorate those who lost their lives."
Note that 77 years have passed since the deportation of the Meskhetian Turks to Central Asia from their ancestral homeland, Southwest Georgia. About 600,000 Meskhetian Turks currently live in 9 countries of the world.
