A group of European Union lawmakers is preparing to call for new regulation specifically tailored to govern the development and use of artificial intelligence technologies, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing a copy of a document related to the matter.
Ednews informs that as per an open letter set to be published later in the day, the block is aiming to create a so-called AI Act aimed at "steering the development" of AI technologies in a "human-centric, safe and trustworthy" direction. The group stated that the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence warrants "significant political attention."
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) last week created a task force to address data protection concerns surrounding ChatGPT, which led to it being banned in Italy.
