New Zealand's Kermadec Islands were struck by a 7.3-magnitude earthquake on Monday, according to the country's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). The islands are located some 800 to 1,000 km northeast of New Zealand's North Island, Ednews informs citing Teletrader.
There are no reports of damage or casualties at this point. People in the area have been advised to move to the nearest high ground or as far inland as possible amid fears that the earthquake may have triggered a tsunami.
