United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres warned on Thursday that the world could face a "catastrophe" unless more action is taken to tackle the climate crisis, Ednews reports.
Guterres stressed that countries are a "long way from" fulfilling their climate promises and commitments, citing a "lack of ambition," as well as a "lack of confidence" and "lack of cooperation."
"Current policies are taking the world to a 2.8-degree temperature rise by the end of the century. That spells catastrophe," the UN chief claimed. "Yet the collective response remains pitiful. We are hurtling towards disaster," he added.
