An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 struck western France on Friday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre's (EMSC) preliminary information, Ednews informs via France 24.
The quake's epicenter was registered 29 kilometers east of the city of La Rochelle at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The EMSC said the tremor was felt by six million people over 400 kilometers and warned of potential aftershocks in the coming hours and days.
