North Korea's ruling Workers' Party of Korea opened its 8th "enlarged plenary meeting" of the 8th Central Committee, attended by the country's leader Kim Jong-un. According to the state media outlet Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the meeting will decide "policy issues of weighty significance in developing the Korean revolution", Ednews informs via Al-Jazeera.
The party will discuss diplomatic and defense strategies "to cope with the changed international situation," KCNA said. The meeting is held in a period of prolonged tensions with South Korea and its Western allies, as Pyongyang continues to carry out ballistic missile launches, drawing condemnation from a large part of the international community.
