A shooting near the United States Consulate General building in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, claimed the lives of two people, the US Department of State confirmed after the Saudi Press Agency first reported about the incident.
A person with a firearm in his hand repeatedly exited a vehicle near the building and was killed in an exchange of fire against local security personnel. A consulate security guard from Nepal was wounded and later died as a result of his injuries, Saudi media said.
Authorities are carrying out investigations into the circumstances of the incident, according to the Saudi state news agency.
