Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro called today's court ruling that banned him from running for office until 2030 a "stab in the back."
"Not long ago, they tried to kill me in Juiz de Fora. I was stabbed in the stomach. Today I took a stab in the back with ineligibility," Bolsonaro claimed, referring to a 2018 incident.
Earlier in the day, the country's Superior Electoral Court announced the ban after five out of seven judges concluded that Bolsonaro abused power, misused the media, and attacked the electoral system during his presidency.
