The chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, accused the opposition that during an attempted rebellion by the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, they wanted to enter Abkhazia, South Ossetia and even Sochi with tanks and weapons, Ednews reports citing Oopstop.
According to the leader of the Georgian Dream, the collective National Movement hatched plans to take advantage of the moment and force to return the “occupied territories” by opening a second front. The prime minister accused the oppositionists that in the event of hostilities, they would have to fight with the Ossetians and Abkhazians, plunging the country into chaos.
“We remember how the collective National Movement rooted for Prigozhin, how they dedicated slogans and poems to him, how they planned, as Prigozhin succeeded, to enter on tanks not only into Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, but also take Sochi”, Kobakhidze said.
According to Kobakhidze, the actions of the authorities and the government of Georgia were restrained at that moment. He believes that Georgia “will be united” and the “pragmatic, rational and peaceful policy of the ruling party” will help in this.
