Wall Street Journalist Evan Gershkovich was visited on Monday by United States ambassador to Russia Lynne Tracy, the embassy confirmed.
The Wall Street Journal reported that this was the second visit of this kind since Gershkovich was detained back in March on claims of espionage. The visit comes almost two weeks after the Moscow City Court rejected the reporter's appeal on the decision to extend his arrest by the end of August.
Previously, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters that Washington continues to push for consular access to Gershkovich "virtually every day" and continues to search for ways to bring him, and other Americans detained all over the world, home.
