An earthquake of a 5.1 magnitude hit near Reykjavik, Iceland, according to data posted on the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) website.
The quake struck at a shallow depth of 6 kilometers, 13 kilometers southwest and west of Reykjavík.
In the days before the main quake, around 70 foreshocks were observed. So far, no damage has been reported.
