First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy (pictured) said on Monday that Moscow's decision to suspend the Black Sea Grain Initiative is "final." Speaking to Russian state-owned media, the diplomat noted he has no information on whether new negotiations are planned.
The deal on the safe transport of grain via the Black Sea was first reached nearly a year ago and extended multiple times. However, Russia confirmed earlier in the day that it will suspend its participation in the deal, as none of the five provisions in a wider agreement that were expected to remove obstacles for exports of Russian grain and fertilizer were fulfilled.
