The French Elysee Palace on Sunday warned that Paris will not tolerate attacks on its citizen in Niger, noting that President Emmanuel Macron intends to respond firmly against such attacks.
"The president (Macron) will not tolerate any attack against France and its interests," Macron's office said.
The statement comes after the new military government of Niger called on citizens to protest against the upcoming Economic Community of West African Nations (ECOWAS) summit, alleging that the summit participants are planning military intervention against Niger.
