"Deeply grateful to all our international donors who have supported the vision of Roots of Peace to turn MINES TO VINES—replacing minefields with vineyards and orchards worldwide."
This statement was made by Heidi Kühn, Founder and CEO of Roots of Peace NGO, World Food Award Laureate 2023.
The founder of the organization noted that now, their job has just gotten harder with the planting of millions of landmines/UXO in Ukraine:
"This audacious crime to the earth was not even imaginable in places like Karabakh just three years ago, as I conducted this interview with Voice of AMERICA (VoA) during the peak of COVID-19. Please take a moment to watch, as we strive to plant peace through agriculture at World Food Prize Foundation The World Food Prize. While the interview is conducted in Pashu language, the images are powerful as I walk through the fertile fields of Afghanistan to plant fruit trees on former war-torn lands."
"As Heidi Kuhn, CEO and Founder, of Roots of Peace, I hope to inspire world leaders to consider the long-term effects that landmines and cluster munition have on future generations", H. Kuhn concluded.
