A 4.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded on Sunday in the Kermadec Islands region, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
It struck at a depth of about 10 kilometers, with an epicenter some 976 kilometers north-northeast of Hicks Bay, New Zealand, which is home to over 1,300 people.
As of this moment, there are no reported damages, and no tsunami alert has been issued.
