Farid Safarli, detained in Iran, was sentenced, Ednews reports.
According to his mother - Dilara Asgarova, the judge issued a 2-year prison sentence in his office without a final trial, without giving Farid a final word, and his son has already received the decision in the form of a letter. Dilara stressed that Farid cannot accept the imposition of this punishment without any evidence.
She asserted that according to Farid, the translation of his voice records into Persian was seriously distorted. And Farid's decision to hire a translator and retranslate the material was assessed by the judge as Farid's stubborn behavior, i.e. not guilty, but demanding.
Dilara Asgarova said that this unfair sentence had a bad effect on her: "This unjust sentence hurts me a lot: give your years to study, learn languages, improve your profession, get a job offer you've been dreaming of for a long time, plan to go and meet your loved one before starting work, and in the end, they will slander you like this".
Notably, on February 20, Farid Safarli traveled to Tehran to see his girlfriend, a doctor with whom he had a practice at the same university. Although F. Safarli was supposed to return to Germany on March 5, he did not return. Since March 4, Farid's phone has been turned off, and contact with him has been completely lost.
Later it became known that he was charged with espionage by the Iranian authorities
