The Ministry of National Defense on the disputed territory of Taiwan said on Sunday that it detected 45 aircraft and nine vessels deployed by the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China near the island by 6 am local time.
Twenty-seven Chinese planes went over the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the island's southwest air defense identification zone (ADIZ), the ministry specified.
Taipei said its military "monitored the situation and tasked CAP [combat air patrol] aircraft, Navy vessels, and land-based missile systems to respond [to] these activities."
