Japan is getting ready to hold a foreign ministers' meeting with six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Saudi Arabia, Kyodo reported on Sunday citing diplomatic sources.
According to the sources, the meeting will be held at the beginning of September, as Tokyo aims to expand its relations with the Middle East countries to secure energy supply. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will be attending the discussions, and might also pay visits to Egypt and Jordan.
Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, all of which are a part of the GCC, make up over 90% of Japan's crude oil deliveries.
