The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized on Saturday the possibility of extensions of the ban on Ukrainian imports into the European Union. On Friday, Polish Agriculture Minister Robert Telus said some EU members will introduce unilateral bans even if the bloc's restrictive measures are not extended past September 15.
"We consider it categorically unacceptable to continue trade restrictions on the import of agricultural products of Ukraine after the ban of the European Commission expires on September 15. They cause complete misunderstanding and intentions to add other categories of Ukrainian products to the list of goods prohibited for import," the Ukrainian ministry said. "Such unilateral restrictions do not correspond to the spirit and letter of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and the principles and norms of the EU Single Market." The ministry called on EU leadership to find a "balanced solution" and to act in the "spirit of solidarity."
