Niger's Interior Ministry said on Thursday in a statement that the military government will be barring the United Nations agencies, alongside non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from "operation zones."
"Due to the current security situation and operational commitment of the Nigerien armed forces, the ministry informs international organizations, national and international NGOs and UN agencies present in Niger that all activities and or movements in the zones of operations are temporarily suspended," it was announced in a statement broadcast on the national radio.
Previously, it was reported that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) delegation failed to reach any agreements with Niger's junta, who took over in July.
