The United States and Bahrain should sign a "strategic security and economic agreement," Axios reported on Monday. Sources familiar with the matter said the deal will be legally binding and include a "commitment to consult and provide assistance if Bahrain faces an imminent security threat," as well as steps to boost the economic partnership between the US and Bahrain.
According to the report, the agreement should be signed in the US, when Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa (pictured) visits Washington. A source added he is expected to meet with State Secretary Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
