The French Embassy in Niger doesn’t receive food due to the actions of the rebels, diplomats are forced to eat military rations, French President Emmanuel Macron said, Ednews informs referring to TASS.
“In Niger, our ambassador and members of the diplomatic mission are being held hostage in the French embassy. They are not allowed to receive food, they are fed with military rations,” he said.
At the same time, Macron didn’t give a direct answer to the question of whether Paris is going to evacuate the “hostages” for security reasons. He only noted that embassy employees remain in Niger “because France supports democracy” and said that he “will do everything that he agrees on with the legally elected President Mohamed Bazoum,” who is also “being held hostage.”
