Hunter Biden, the son of the US president, is seeking to dismiss the federal indictment for which he was charged earlier this week, NBC reported Friday after seeing a court filing.
According to the report, he "maintains" that the original plea deal "remains in place." "He will seek to dismiss the Indictment against him pursuant to the immunity provisions of that Agreement," Hunter Biden's lawyer Abbe Lowell wrote.
Under the original deal, Biden had to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax offenses, and prosecutors would have accepted a related plea agreement that could have resulted in the dismissal of the gun charges. However, Biden walked away from the deal and pleaded "not guilty" this week over the gun possession charges.
