Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is allegedly contemplating an early departure from the House of Representatives after being ousted from the post earlier this week, Politico reported on Friday citing sources.
People familiar with the matter have indicated that McCarthy could stay in the House until the new speaker is elected, a process set to begin next week.
Namely, after House members voted to remove him from office, the former speaker stated during a private meeting with his colleagues that he was ready to go home and dedicate time to his family, insiders told Politico. Nevertheless, McCarthy is expected to remain active in Republican politics, they said.
