Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region will be the main topic of negotiations between India and the United States in New Delhi in the "two plus two" format, which will involve the heads of the foreign policy and military departments of the two countries, and events in the Middle East and Ukraine will also be discussed, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said before the start of negotiations.
"In the 2+2 format, we will conduct a comprehensive review of cross-sector strategic ties, defense and security ties, technology and supply chain cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. A key focus of our discussions today will be the Indo-Pacific region," Jaishankar said.
He recalled that a summit of the countries of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad, unites Australia, India, Japan and the USA) will take place early next year.
"In the context of ongoing global events, I look forward to the opportunity to exchange views on the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine, among others," the Indian minister added.
