Iran has initiated various measures to reduce the reliance on the United States dollar in trade, economic, and financial transactions within the BRICS framework, as reported by RIA Novosti on Sunday citing Ali Bagheri Kyani, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran and Tehran's chief negotiator in Vienna.
"Within the framework of this organization, we have many missions planned and joint work with other BRICS members. One of the most important works was the de-dollarization of trade and economic transactions and financial cooperation. Activities in this working area of BRICS activities have already begun, we hope to strengthen and grow these activities to implement this task as soon as possible," the Iranian diplomat said.
In line with this objective, the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) recently announced an agreement with Moscow to eliminate the use of the US dollar in bilateral trade.
