German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and her Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had a telephone conversation during which they discussed the newest developments in the Middle East, the former's office stated on Thursday.
"Avoiding further regional escalation must be in everyone's interest. We urge all actors in the region to act responsibly and exercise maximum restraint," the German Foreign Ministry wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The conversation came amid the rising tensions between Israel and Iran that followed the former's attack on the latter's consulate in Damascus.
