Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that the escalation of tensions in Europe is "potentially dangerous... including in the nuclear sphere." The Russian military started tactical nuclear weapon exercises yesterday, claiming they will help Russia preserve its territorial integrity and sovereignty in light of "provocative statements and threats" from Western officials.
Peskov added that the situation requires "in-depth dialogue" but that the West is refusing to engage with Russia on de-escalation.
