Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on international partners to increase pressure on Russia, arguing that Moscow’s recent actions demonstrate weakness rather than strength, EDnews reports.
Speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Ankara, Zelenskyy said Ukraine had seen signs of vulnerability in Russia but stressed that further measures were needed.
“We see the weakness of Russia – we feel it. But it’s not enough. We need more pressure, more anti-ballistic and more sanctions on Russia,” Zelenskyy told reporters.
The Ukrainian leader is expected to raise Kyiv’s urgent need for additional air defence systems during a planned meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
Zelenskyy’s appeal comes after intensified Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, including strikes on Kyiv that reportedly killed more than 50 people.
At the same time, Ukraine has increased its own long-range attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure, as Kyiv seeks to put pressure on Moscow amid ongoing efforts to shape future peace negotiations.
